Job Description

 

WeBridge Community Services is a non-profit organization that seeks to bridge the gap in services for Black persons within London and area. We are dedicated to helping the black community by providing culturally grounded counseling, education and research services and
support.


We are searching for an experienced and talented Children’s Camp Counselor. You will guide and ensure the safety of children as they engage in camp activities. You will be responsible for overseeing their activities and ensuring they don’t get lost or hurt. Camp duration (July 7-
August 1, 2025)


Responsibilities

  • Ensure a group of assigned campers is supervised and safe.

  • Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques.

  • Prepare and lead a variety of activities that are age appropriate.

  • Model good behavior for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness.

  • Identify teachable moments and capitalize on them.

  • Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of campers.

  • Plan and facilitate camp games and activities.

  • Encourage participation in camp activities.

  • Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner.

  • Equipment set up and take down.

  • Be available for the duration of the camp July 7- August 1, 2025

  • Time 8:00 am-3:30pm (Monday to Friday)


Qualifications and Skills

  • 1 or more years of experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

  • Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities.

  • Patient and reliable.

  • Organizational and communication skills.

  • A love for children.

  • Energetic and positive personality.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.

  • Proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for large groups of children.

  • Certification in CPR and AED 

  • First aid skills and training 

Working Conditions

 

  • General mobility including, but not limited, to walking, kneeling, and standing.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Working in changing weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.)

Afrocentric Counselling Job Description

Our Afrocentric approach to counselling ensures that client’s ethnocultural background and experiences within various social contexts are acknowledged, both in practice and therapy. Together with our warm, supportive, informal, yet professional approach to counseling, we ensure that our clients are appropriately engaged and well-supported on their journey to wellness.


Personal Counselling
Adhering to professionally approved standards of practice, the Counsellor is required to:


• Complete intake assessments and assess areas of client functioning, e.g. stress, depression, risk assessment, crisis management, relationship issues, support systems, risk of personal harm etc.
• Provide counselling with high-risk clients and in emergency situations
• Establish appropriate intervention plans with the clients and in consultation with the Manager as required.
• Provide counselling through prescheduled appointments and drop-in sessions
• Implement interventions based on the assessment and the plan using accepted models of clinical practice (including the use of group counselling and e-counselling methods), informed by a diversity Lens.
• Ensure Black and Caribbean population are provided culturally relevant therapy services
• Develop and maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships
• Participate in the development and incorporation of new research and technology into therapeutic approached.


Qualifications:
Education: A minimum undergraduate degree in social work, B.S.W. (or equivalent) is required.
M.S.W (Master of Social Work), M.A. (Counselling Psychology), or M.Ed. (Counselling) will be
considered an asset.

Formal training in counselling theories and their practical application is required.
Registration with the appropriate regulatory body associated with the individual’s professional
discipline is mandatory (I.e. OCSWSSW or CPRO).


Training, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required:


• One to three years of relevant experience
• Identify as a Black, or Caribbean and has experience supporting Black communities who have experienced oppression and racism
• A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of race and racism, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and antidiscrimination and their impacts of individuals and communities
• Experience in on-on-one counselling environment
• Experience supporting clients with mental health concerns
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, ongoing learning and skill development
• Knowledge of diversity and unique challenges faced by this population
• Knowledge of counselling theories and models, crisis intervention, social problems, sociological issues, and psycho-social assessment
• Knowledge of community-based mental health treatment, support services and programs
• Ability to develop trust and a positive working relationship with clients and stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills,
• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, engage in ongoing self-reflective practice
• Strong working knowledge of computer and software applications (MS Office Suite, Internet, E-mail)
• A Criminal Reference Check, with vulnerable sector screening is mandatory

Job title: Let’s Parent Together Program Facilitator

WeBridge Community Services is seeking an experienced Parenting program Facilitator. The role of the Parenting Program Facilitator is to facilitate the Let’s Parent Together Program(s) and ensure that the programs provide a culturally safe, supportive group environment where parents can access resources, knowledge and additional skills to improve and strengthen their relationships with their children, families and communities. 

Important Details

Casual position; 6 hours /week( 24 hrs per month) 
Start Date : June 1, 2025.
Compensation :  $22/hr.


Duties and responsibilities
Facilitator:
• Attending the group(s) on a weekly basis and facilitating the learning process
• Providing appropriate guidance and parent education on various topics
• Measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of the group process
• Ensuring all families have access to support to assist in the building and maintenance of healthy, successful families.
• Providing a safe and supportive place where parents can experience new learning opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
• Recognize the limits of the program and refer parents to other professionals, services, and agencies as appropriate.
• Makes arrangements for quest presenters, facilities and materials necessary for group sessions.
• Plans sessions in a consultative process with participants. Conducts sessions, acting as a facilitator or co-facilitator not a counselor.
• Conducts program evaluation and obtains participant feedback on group effectiveness, material presented, facilitation style, etc. Reports any difficulties to supervisor.
• Maintains all necessary participant and program reports and statistics.
• Maintains up-to date knowledge of community resources in order to provide program- related information to participants. Maintains contact with participants between sessions in order to provide follow-up support if necessary.
• Performs other related duties as required

Qualification:

Education
• A diploma, bachelor’s or master’s degree in social service/human services or a related field, or
the equivalent education and experience.
• Demonstration of on-going, life-long learning process.
• Education in group leadership, program development and facilitation.

 

Experience
• Experience in group facilitation within a social services setting.
• Experience in public speaking/leading groups/teams.
• Experience in program planning and implementation.
• Experience in working in helping relationships and an awareness of the importance for clear boundary setting within these relationships.


Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Excellent leadership skills.
• A comprehensive understanding of group dynamics and family processes.
• A basic comprehensive understanding of a wide variety of topics in the field of family life education, including adolescent development, attachment theory, compassionate communication self-care, anti-racism and more
• Valid First Aid/CPR
